Real people have 1-character names. As seen by the previous attempt
to enforce length, in b7779667fc, real
people have names with all sorts of lengths. All that we should care
about is that they're non-empty.
Currently `check_valid_bot_config` checks if `config_options` has a
falsy value to determine whether an integration is invalid or not. But,
what it actually does is check whether an exists in WEBHOOK_INTEGRATIONS
and it has at least one WebhookConfigOption.
It should instead, check if `config_options` is `None` to determine
whether an integration is invalid or not.
Server can now send partial data to the client to help in
developement. We don't want this to be widely used right now,
hence no documentation changes have been made.
This will likely be a check on client capability later.
This commit updates code to not prefetch can_access_all_users_group
and can_access_all_users_group__named_user_group fields using
select_related. We can just use get_realm_system_groups_name_dict
function to check if setting is set to "Everyone" group when
needed and can avoid unnecessarily fetching groups for every user
query.
This commit refactors user_has_permission_for_group_setting
to accept setting group ID instead of UserGroup object.
We only need ID in checking the permission and this helps in
further commit to avoid prefetching can_access_all_users_group
setting.
Removed `is_billing_admin` user property as it is no longer used since
billing permissions are now determined by `can_manage_billing_group`
realm setting.
This implied by its name that users could have more than one key.
They cannot, currently; make the code clearer by switching to the
explicit column access.
Added `can_create_bots_group` setting which controls who can
create any type of bots in the organization.
Added `can_create_write_only_bots_group` setting which controls
who can create incoming webhooks in the organization in additon
to those who are in `can_create_bots_group`.
This commit is to use medium-size avatar images when previewing avatars during the copy account settings flow. Before this commit, the avatar images were blurry when using the avatar from an existing account while joining a new realm. Now, the avatar is clear.
Fixes#32604.
Removes the unnecessary fields from bulk_access_users_by_email and
bulk_access_users_id, while also removing duplication of these lists
of fields.
"base_bulk_get_user_queryset", used when fetching a user
other than the acting user.
"base_get_user_queryset", used when fetching the acting user,
prefetching more fields.
There remains some inconsistency in the models.py functions that may
merit further investigation.
Currently, the GitHub webhook sends activity from both public and private
repositories, which could lead to unintended disclosure of sensitive
information from private repositories.
This commit introduces a ignore_private_repositories parameter to the
webhook URL. When set to true, the webhook ignore processing activity from
private repositories, ensuring that such activities are not posted to
Zulip streams. By default, if the parameter is omitted or set to false,
activities from both public and private repositories are processed
normally. This provides users with the flexibility to control the
visibility of private repository activities without altering the default
behavior.
More importantly, this introduces a cleaner mechanism for individual
incoming webhooks to declare support for settings not common to all
webhook integrations.
Fixes#31638.
This commit updates backend code to not allow adding deactivated
users to groups including when creating groups and also to not
allow removing deactivated users from groups.
Limiting lookups by delivery_email to users with "everyone" email
visibility is overly simplistic. We can successfully do these lookups
whenever the requester has the permission to view the real email address
of the user they're looking up.
This is helpful for taking an "acting user" and getting the list of
email_address_visibility values such that the UserProfiles with those
values of the setting permit the acting user to view their
deliver_email.
This can be used for a query "all users whose delivery_email is viewable
by <requester>" in an upcoming commit.
The added code is ugly, but at least it lets us simplify some similarly
ugly logic in can_access_delivery_email.
This new property allows organization administrators to specify whether
users can modify the custom profile field value on their own account.
This property is configurable for individual fields.
By default, existing and newly created fields have this property set to
true, that is, they allow users to edit the value of the fields.

This commit adds code to handle guests separately for group
based settings, where guest will only have permission if
that particular setting can be set to "role:everyone" group
even if the guest user is part of the group which is used
for that setting. This is to make sure that guests do not
get permissions for actions that we generally do not want
guests to have.
Currently the guests do not have permission for most of them
except for "Who can delete any message", where guest could
delete a message if the setting was set to a user defined
group with guest being its member. But this commit still
update the code to use the new function for all the settings
as we want to have a consistent pattern of how to check whether
a user has permission for group-based settings.
Previously, this logic did the database queries to look up UserProfile
objects in a loop.

Significantly improves Stream creation time and also unsusbcribing users.
Tested stream creation with 10k stream subscribers:
- before: 127 seconds ~2 mins
- after: 17 seconds ~0.3 min
Add a test case for user unsubscribing themself.
This commit performs a sweep on the first batch of non API
files to rename "huddle" to "direct_message_group`.
It also renames variables and methods of type -
"huddle_message" to "group_direct_message".
This is a part of #28640
This commit updates code, majorly in tests, to use
setting values from enums instead of directly using
the constants defined in Realm.
We still have those constants defined Realm as they
are used in a couple of places where the same code
is used for different settings. These will be
handled later.
This commit updates code to access name from named_user_group
field which points to the "NamedUserGroup" instead of directly
accessing name from "UserGroup", since name field will only
be present on NamedUserGroup objects in further commits.
Creating a bot with a name that is already in use
will raise an error. However, by deactivating
the existing bot, creating a new bot with the
same name, and then reactivating the original bot,
it is possible to have multiple bots with the same name.
To fix this, we check if the bot name is already
in use in the active bots list. If it is,
an error will be raised, prompting either the
name of the existing bot to be changed or
the bot to be deactivated.

Previously, users were allowed to signup or change their names to
those which already existed in the realm.
This commit adds an Organization Permission, that shall enforce
users to use unique names while signing up or changing their
names. If a same or normalized full name is found in realm,
then a validation error is thrown.

This commit updates get_fake_email_domain to accept realm.host as
argument instead of the Realm object since we only use realm.host
to get the fake email domain.
This is a preparatory commit for the limited guest feature as we
would be sending the fake email of the message sender in message
event object to a guest user who cannot access the sender and
there we would need to compute the fake email.
Previously, we weren't able to mute the cross realm bots. This was
because, for muting the users, we access only those profiles which are
in realm, excluding the cross realm system bots.
This is fixed by replacing the access_user_by_id method with a new
method access_user_by_id_including_cross_realm for this specific test.
Fixes#27823
The presence and user status update events are only sent to accessible
users, i.e. guests do not receive presence and user status updates for
users they cannot access.
This commit adds code to make sure that update events for changing
a user's role, email, etc. are not sent to guests who cannot access
the modified user.
This commit adds code to update access_user_by_id to raise
error if guest tries to access an inaccessible user.
One notable behavioral change due to this is that we do
not allow guest to mute or unmute a deactivated user if
that user was not involved in DMs.
We now pass bogus data for inaccessible users when sending
the users data in "realm_users" field of "register" response
or when using endpoints like "GET /users" to get data of
all the users in realm.
We would add a client capability field in future commits
such that new clients would receive data only for accessible
users and they can form the bogus data by themselves.
This commit updates format_user_row to return a TypedDict.
This commit is a prep commit for feature of restricting user
access such that code can be easy to read and understand when
we add that feature.
