We are starting the cutover process and starlight_help is the directory
we have agreed on to place our new help center project. We do not want
to use `starlight_help` as the URL for the project, but this commit
changes the url from `help-beta` to `starlight_help` temporarily since
we can only change URL once we get rid of the current help center
project. That will be done in a future commit.
We are adding MDX files to `.gitignore` for now since they are
just a result of a build process, once the migration is done,
we will not ignore them.
We're using PNPM workspaces to manage this project.
The new project's tsconfig.json has been copied from the current
root tsconfig.json while omitting some details that are only
relevant to that project.
`help-beta/src/env.d.ts` is a type declaration file auto-generated
by Astro. See https://github.com/withastro/astro/issues/6013.
`signup.js` uses `jquery-validation` plugin, which is a javascript
package shipped without type definitions. Installing its corresponding
types help with TypeScript migration by allowing types annotations
involving the plugin methods and obejcts.
Converted `emoji.js` to TypeScript by adding relevant type definitions,
also modified `target` option in our tsconfig to 'ESNext' so that types
for object methods like `hasOwn` which is being used in `emoji.js` are
included.
Ever since we started bundling the app with webpack, there’s been less
and less overlap between our ‘static’ directory (files belonging to
the frontend app) and Django’s interpretation of the ‘static’
directory (files served directly to the web).
Split the app out to its own ‘web’ directory outside of ‘static’, and
remove all the custom collectstatic --ignore rules. This makes it
much clearer what’s actually being served to the web, and what’s being
bundled by webpack. It also shrinks the release tarball by 3%.

Automatic inclusion is for files with global declarations, as opposed
to files declared as modules. typeRoots already had the side effect
of disabling the default automatic inclusion for node_modules. Since
we also don’t need it for static/js/types, we may as well disable it
completely.

typescript-eslint was using hundreds of megabytes to track `*.js`
files that it shouldn’t be checking.
