This commit documents the `/remotes/push/e2ee/register` endpoint.
We use auth_email="ZULIP_ORG_ID" and auth_api_key="ZULIP_ORG_KEY"
instead of "BOT_EMAIL_ADDRESS" and "BOT_API_KEY".
We do not test relative links here since relative links were only
used in the old help pages. We should probably remove the logic
for relative links after we have done the official cutover to the
starlight help center: #35654.
We are going to move the help center to starlight soon and the tests
won't be able to access that help center until we solve things in a
followup issue. We move some of the urls being tested from /help to /api
to not loose coverage on those tests.
The subdomain and host parts are already used within zulip_url, api_url,
this commit adds them as context properties themselves, so that they
can be used in email addresses and URLs without the URI scheme,
increasing uniformity.
The new context properties `display_host` and `display_subdomain` are
usable in the Help, API docs and Policies.
Occurrences of `*.zulipchat.com` have been updated to use them.
The context property was previously being used in the macro
`git-webhook-url-with-branches` which has been removed as it is not in
use any longer.
The context property was now being used only in 2 integration docs, both
of which used it only in a single location, and directly used their own
names as the channel name. Making the context property unnecessary.
This middleware was highly-specific to a set of URLs, and pulled in a
beautifulsoup dependency for Tornado. Move it closer to where it is
used, minimizing action at a distance, as well as trimming out a
dependency.
In #23380 we want to change all occurrences of `uri` with `url`.
This commit changes the occurrences in a context key `api_uri_context`
and a function name `add_api_uri_context`.
In #23380 we want to change all occurrences of `uri` with `url`.
This commit changes the names of two variables `external_uri_scheme`
and `main_site_uri`, who are constructed using `settings` constants.
- Updates `.prettierignore` for the new directory.
- Updates any reference to the API documentation directory for
markdown files to be `api_docs/` instead of `zerver/api/`.
- Removes a reference link from `docs/documentation/api.md` that
hasn't referenced anything in the text since commit 0542c60.
- Update rendering of API documentation for new directory.
Moves the check for calling the `api-doc-template.md` directly,
so that we don't return a 500 error from the server, to happen
earlier with other checks for returning a 404 / missing page.
Also adds a specific test to `zerver/tests/test_urls` for this
template.
Prep commit for moving API documentation directory to be a top
level directory.
These files are not Jinja2 templates, so there's no reason that they needed
to be inside `templates/zerver`. Moving them to the top level reflects their
importance and also makes it feel nicer to work on editing the help center content,
without it being unnecessary buried deep in the codebase.
Changes the check for whether the documentation page is a policy
center page to be the `self.policies_view` boolean instead of the
`path_template` value as it reads much more clearly.
Moves a comment in the code to be contextually relevant.
Because of the overlap with the `DocumentationArticle` dataclass
field `article_path`, we rename the `article_path` variable used
in `MarkdownDirectoryView.get_context_data` for the absolute path
to be `article_absolute_path`.
In commit bbecd41, we added "not_index_page" to the context for
some documentation articles, but use of that context key/value was
removed when the help documentation was removed in commit 1cf7ee9.
Changes `not_index_page` to be a boolean value that's used to set
the page title, but is not then passed on as a context key/value.
Also removes an irrelevant comment about disabling "Back to home"
on the homepage.
Previously, we got the directory path for all documentation pages
before checking for API method and path information in the OpenAPI
documentation. Instead, we now check the `path_template` is the
API documentation view template before getting the directory path.
Also, changes the confusingly named `article_path` variable, which
overlapped with the DocumentationArticle dataclass `article_path`
field, to now be `api_documentation_path`.
Prep commit for moving the help center documentation to a top level
directory.
Moves files in `templates/zerver/help/include` that are used
specifically for integrations documentation to be in a new
directory: `templates/zerver/integrations/include`.
Adds a boolean parameter to `render_markdown_path` to be used
for integrations documentation pages.
We use `templates/zerver/api/api-doc-template.md` as a base template
for the documented API endpoints in `zerver/openapi/zulip.yaml`.
Previously, if this template was called as an endpoint, then it
would fail an assertion check and send server error. Now we check
for specifically for that potential path and return a 404 error
response for no existing article.
Fixes#21876.
Updates the base titles so that they begin with the page content,
and end with "| Zulip" + information about the type of doc: "help
center", "API documentation", "terms and policies", or "integrations".
We create "event-filter-instruction.md" and add it to
"create-bot-construct-url.md". This allows the user to keep track of the
supported event types for most of the integrations that implement this
feature. Note that not all integrations use "create-bot-construct-url.md".
We also need to rename "function" to "view_function" to make this change
type-check.
This is relevant to #18392.

Renames existing template variables starting with `OPEN_GRAPH` to be
either `PAGE` or `PAGE_METADATA` since these variables are used for
adding both open graph metdata and page titles/descriptions for SEO.
The supertype contains `*args` and `**kwargs`, this adapts the signature
of the `get` method to make MarkdownDirectoryView compatible with it.

The calling arguments here are completely wrong. The first argument
should be `request`, and `self` should never get passed to `.get`.
Because `TemplateView` happened to not use `request`, and we happened
to pass `article` as a keyword argument, this error slipped through.

This replaces the TERMS_OF_SERVICE and PRIVACY_POLICY settings with
just a POLICIES_DIRECTORY setting, in order to support settings (like
Zulip Cloud) where there's more policies than just those two.
With minor changes by Eeshan Garg.
These variables can be unset if the `os.path.exists` check fails.
That should be rare, since we've previously checked the files do
exist before getting here.
This utilizes the generic `BaseNotes` we added for multipurpose
patching. With this migration as an example, we can further support
more types of notes to replace the monkey-patching approach we have used
throughout the codebase for type safety.
This includes the migration of fields that require trivial changes
to be migrated to be stored with ZulipRequestNotes.
Specifically _requestor_for_logs, _set_language, _query, error_format,
placeholder_open_graph_description, saveed_response, which were all
previously set on the HttpRequest object at some point. This migration
allows them to be typed.
The operationId is directly used in URLs of API doc pages
to find the OpenAPI data to render. However, this is dash-
separated in the URLs, and having underscore_separated IDs
in OpenAPI data doesn't allow direct comparison of the two.
This commit changes all OperationIDs from underscore_separated
to dash-separated.
Currently, the "Home" link at the top takes one to the doc root,
i.e., /help or /api. This is a little misleading since "Home"
seems to be more synonymous with the Zulip homepage.
This commit adds a proper backlink to the top logo that takes you to
the homepage and renames "Home" to be more specific. The text after
"|" will now take you to the doc root instead (/help or /api). Note
that this allows us to link the /help and /api pages from the
homepage while ensuring that backlinks allow the visitor to get back
to the homepage.
The absence of __init__.py was preventing mypy from following any of
the zerver.openapi imports. These errors were being silenced by
ignore_missing_imports.

This PR adds a basic .md template that is followed by lot of /api
pages. Since we have recently done the migration work to ensure that
our REST API documentation pages for individual endpoints are almost
all identical files following a common pattern, we can now get the
payoff of deleting them all in favor of a shared template.
This removes 2000 lines of somewhat finicky configuration from the
codebase, and thus should save significant effort when documenting new
API endpoints in the future.
The markdown files for endpoints or other pages which deviate from the
standard template remain, and the docs are instead generated from
those files using the existing system.
