# Rename a channel

A channel's name can be in any language, and can include spaces, punctuation,
and Unicode emoji.

1. Select a channel.

1. Click the **edit channel name and description**
   (<i class="zulip-icon zulip-icon-edit"></i>) icon to the right of the
   channel name, and enter a new channel name.
